RECENT CHANGELOG
March 29th, 2020: If you choose to suffocate yourself in a wall, and the trapper/enemy places a block to keep you suffocating (and unable to return to your original position), IT IS NO LONGER revivable.
March 29th, 2020: You are no longer allowed to suffocate yourself in ANY/ALL walls, you may only suffocate yourself when you are trapped in a small area, such as a 1x1, but you MAY NOT suffocate yourself in the outer wall of a base or a wall that divides two sections of a base. Illegal self-suffocation with pearls will be considered pearl glitching.
April 15th, 2020: CLARIFICATION: To clarify, cross pearling into a base from a (fall) trap is ALLOWED, it is not considered "outside of the base"
“Tali” Pearl - Allowed
The ability to pearl through the open space of any special block, or an open single block, (ie: slabs or stairs in any formation, cobblestone walls)
Video example: https://youtu.be/mJVd0JgBrTI
How to counter “Tali” pearls:
Place a “crit block”, and the trapped player will not be able to perform any Tali pearls successfully.
Justification for it being allowed: If there is an open space through any crit area (slab, wall, or stair), then there should always be a valid way of pearling through that hole.
“Cross” Pearl - Allowed
The ability to use an open space of any special block (slabs, stairs, walls, etc) to pearl into, and through the corner, of a crit area (INTO AN AREA FROM A BLOCKED-IN TRAP, see 2eii). These pearls are usually performed once the trapper has already countered the Tali pearl with a “crit block”. This pearl works by using the open space of a special block to pearl into the middle of two different blocks, allowing you to move freely in the corner direction.
Video example of these pearls: https://youtu.be/cFO5gPhhzas
How to counter Cross pearls:
Justification for it being allowed:
These pearls can only be performed legitimately when there is an open hole in the crit area (slabs, stairs, walls, etc). This pearl allows players another escape from being trapped in bases, which is something that should be allowed, and something that is needed for modern HCF.
Extra Information:
It is okay for the player to use a pickaxe to speed up the process of their cross pearl, or get vision of their position. It only speeds up the process if it is an efficiency 6 against an insta-mine block (stone, stonebrick, etc…)
This is NOT ALLOWED if you're using it to get into the base from the outside of the base, or using it to get out of the base/claim.
To clarify, cross pearling into a base from a (fall) trap is ALLOWED, it is not considered "outside of the base"
Regardless of the position of the special block, (ex: whether the stair hole is on the left or right side), you are allowed to cross pearl either left or right.
Accidental Pearl Glitching
Truly accidental Pearl Glitching (not bannable, most circumstances revivable)
This is the case where there is no possible chance that there was intention of pearl glitching, yet it still happens. The server remains at fault for these.
Revive Policy: If a player truly accidentally pearl glitches and then dies because of the pearl glitch, they should be revived. If another player dies at the expense of a player truly accidentally pearl glitching, the player should be revived, but no punishments should be served.
Reasonable accidental Pearl Glitching (not bannable, not revivable)
This is the case where there is a LEGITIMATE reason to throw your pearl (in this case, an open hole to pearl into a 1x1 with an enemy player), yet you get glitched in a block, and it gets you inside the base. The server remains at fault for the pearl not working properly; the only reason a player would perform a “reasonable” accidental Pearl Glitch would be because they are trying to perform a pearl that should REALISTICALLY work.
Example: https://youtu.be/uzuN6akr2es
Context: Player attempts to pearl into the 1x1 of the trapper, gets stuck in a block, and gets hit out of the block into the base.
Revive Policy: If a player performs a reasonable accidental pearl glitch, there will be no reviving under any circumstances. The reason for this is that these pearls SHOULD work, so we should treat them as a legitimate pearl.
Counter:
Extra Information: As long as the initial pearl can be deemed “reasonable accidental” pearl glitching, then the way the player gets into the base, whether that be pearling, or getting hit out of the block, does not matter.
Bannable Pearl Glitching (Full Blocks)
Bannable pearl glitching (full blocks) is when a player pearls through full blocks without any special blocks or reasoning, AND FULLY GOES THROUGH THE BLOCK TO GAIN ACCESS TO AN AREA NOT ALREADY ACCESSIBLE.
Video example: https://youtu.be/DLZE-ENDIIQ (DON’T SHARE THIS LINK WITH PUBLIC)
Exceptions: it is NOT BANNABLE when you pearl into a block and suffocate yourself for the potential that a trapper will mine to you and make a mistake. It is only bannable when you pearl glitch to gain access to an area that you shouldn’t have access to, or illegally suffocate yourself.
ILLEGAL SELF SUFFOCATION: YOU MAY NOT suffocate yourself in the outer wall of a base, or a dividing border of a base. This will be considered pearl glitching.
Bannable Pearl Glitching
Bannable pearl glitching (getting stuck in two full blocks, not the same as suffocating yourself) is when a player pearls up and gets stuck on a wall (in two full blocks) to escape a trap WITH NO REASON TO THROW THE INITIAL PEARL.
Exception #1: If there is reason to throw an initial pearl up, (ie: player mining into drop down), then it can be argued that the pearl was a reasonable accidental pearl glitch, and the player should not be banned.
Exception #2: If there is a block missing in the wall, and a player pearls into the block to stay there and escape, that is allowed and not bannable.
